Ganatra​

  • Contracted worker that assists with housing operations, works in NV, BC, KS, PiPhi subhousemanager type things
  • Multiple dorms having issues with him being not a good desk worker supervisor, coming up with random policies, not being communicative
  • Bad behaviour issues
  • BC has reached out to David Friedrich, will be having a meeting
    • If dorms have testimonials that they can write down that would be appreciated
  • Presidents should pass down to residents if they live in an affected dorm

Rex Survey​

  • Context: MIT sends out survey every fall asking about how REX and move-in and in house moving went
    • Sent a little later in the semester so they can ask how students are settling into communities
  • Hoping to send out at end of October
  • Want input from all dorm presidents
    • Sometimes questions don’t make sense for certain dorms
    • Previous surveys have been very long, if you have thoughts about most important thing you want to see as result of post-rex survey P/VP want to hear about it
      • Arthur: Can look at last year’s REX survey if you want some context
  • House-life survey about HoH, AD, GRAs sent out later in the year asking students for feedback about houseteam, didn’t happen in 2020, will happen again in 2022
    • Think about what specifically you want to ask your students about Houseteam

Underclassman Rep elections​

  • A catch all position, you are a part of exec without a specific assigned responsibility, but can instead take on projects eg. Murals, dining forum, etc.
  • Nominations: Geoffrey(accept), Maanas(accept), Jordan(decline),
  • How many are we electing?
    • “Plan” right now: play it by ear
    • Will probably elect only one right now (Zawad’s suggestion)
  • Why do you want to be on Dormcon:
    • Geoffrey: Want to be on dormcon because improving student life is really important to him, currently 21 min late to 8.01 exam (AHHHHH), Murals good esp with closer of EC, providing spaces where people can express themselves
    • Maanas: Not gonna lie, Geoffrey is a king you should elect him. Lots of people chose MIT bc people here are cool, sometimes it’s an uphill battle letting people here show how cool they are. Passionate about murals, dorm renovations, lack of food labels. A bit of a public policy nerd, prepared to read a bunch of minutiae

President Updates​

  • BC
    • Missing supplies, equipment, and other stuff they were promised, Constant construction
      • Gonna try to get a discount on housing, this is ridiculous, decremented to tier two
    • Have essentially explicitly admitted that construction will not be done until mid-December
    • Alumni who donated to TV-lounge will come over for a get together
    • Try to arrange a meeting on new associate provost on campus planning to discuss mural bc HRS ghosted Sarah
      • People miss murals
    • Sending out in house move (flex) feedback form to freshmen in BC
  • EC
    • VP elections tonight
    • First renovations meeting happened
    • Meeting about standardising night watch policies for events
      • Currently they don’t walk through top-optional events but do walk through other events and trying to get this standardized so that security doesn’t walk through events
    • “Temporary” Campus access policies
      • Backtracking on closed campus
      • Will be sending out survey to all members of campus
      • Members of GSC and UA council will get to look at the thing in advance
      • Make sure to bump survey to our residents

      • Maseeh-talk is a self-feeding monster bc no one can unsubscribe from it, every year the new class lists get added to it
      • Turns out castle-talk is an alias of maseeh-talk

    • PSA: you can buy bulk boba for 3.75 each, if you need to incentivize people to show up to a meeting
    • Does any other dorm have forced triples that they got to detriple this year?
      • There’s furniture in the forced triples that they can’t remove
      • House manager just said that if they keep the furniture there they can pay the triple rate, but some people actually want the furniture out
